  • Day Heli Skiing - Powder Excursion Itinerary

At 7:30 am, day skiers are required to register at our Guest Services Desk, located in the Retail Shop on the lower level of the Hillcrest Hotel. Guests will be required to fill out a release of liability waiver and check in with our ski technicians for high performance rentals. The morning also includes breakfast and safety training prior to boarding the helicopter. We break up the ski day with a delicious lunch in the mountains and end the day right with après snacks and beverages back at the Hillcrest Hotel.

Day skiers are welcome to check-in before 6:30 pm the evening prior to their trip to set up ski gear and sign our required release of liability waiver.

7:30am Register with Guest Services in the Retail Shop. Complete a waiver form, select powder skis/boards with one of our ski technicians, and rent an avalanche airbag if you like. Our pilots also need to know group weight so you will be asked to jump on a scale.

8:30am Your guide will meet you at a designated area. They will provide you with one of our avalanche transcievers and provide insight on your day of skiing.
8:45am - 10:00am Your guide will lead you through a safety exercise before meeting the helicopter pilot for an orientation of the machine. Once training is finished your group will either load the helicopter directly, or you could be shuttled to a staging area for pickup.

    12:30pm - 1:00pm Lunch in the mountains.

  • Fitness & Ability

In order to go Heli Skiing with Selkirk Tangiers you must be able to ski strong parallel turns on easy black runs.

It is important to have good cardiovascular fitness in order to enjoy the demands of playing in our snow. We recommend that you engage in some kind of exercise program for eight to ten weeks prior to your ski trip. The fitter you are, the better you will be able to overcome any skiing challenges and avoid injuries.

Several full days of lift-serviced skiing or snowboarding combined with powder skiing lessons are a great way to get ready for your trip, particularly if you can try some gladed runs and powder. We recommend that you use a pair of our high performance skis and boards suitable for the snow conditions.
