Our Guides
Our guides are members of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) and/or the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA). These men and women are committed to giving you the powder experience of a lifetime. Many of our guides work around the world doing what they love to do - guiding people in the mountains. They have received specialty training in avalanche forecasting, terrain evaluation, rescue and emergency medical techniques.
Eriks Suchovs - General Manager

Eriks is our General Manager. He grew up in Toronto to Latvian parents with a great skiing history. After spending time climbing and skiing in Banff, he got a business degree and moved to Revelstoke in 1981 to start a restaurant. He started guiding with Selkirk Tangiers in 1983 and never left! With a change in ownership, Eriks made the move from a Senior Guide to Management. He still tries to get out skiing and guiding as much as he can.
Eriks has two little ski monsters: Andreas, 11, and Chloe, 10 - who have been heli skiing since the age of four and will experience the new adventure of ski touring this winter. His other interests include sailing his boat in Desolation Sound, surfing with his kids in Tofino, and exploring the ocean and lakes with his zodiac while camping on the beach.

"Tangiers Glacier. Landing at 9,300 feet beside the spire, skiing all the way to the true valley floor, picking up beside the creek, and checking the waters for trout. Its 1,735 vertical metres, glacier views, and the mature old growth forest make it a true classic."
Dave Pehowich - Operations Manager

Dave Pehowich is one of our Operations Managers. Originally from Kamloops, British Columbia, he was the first graduate from the Adventure Travel Guide Program based out of Kamloops. Dave has been with Selkirk Tangiers since 1996 and is an ACMG ski guide and professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association. As a lead guide during ski season, he spends most of his time guiding on skis but will also guide on a snowboard on select days. During the summer and fall months, he runs a glading company; maintaining helicopter landings and pickups, ski runs, as well as creating new runs for ski operators.
Dave truly enjoys sharing his passion of skiing and the mountains around Revelstoke with our guests. He loves hearing "That was my best day skiing ever!" Dave and his wife Natalie have a four year old named Jalen and a one year old named Mason. They also run the Revelstoke Timber Loft, a new Bed & Breakfast out of their home. Other hobbies include mountain biking, dirt biking, climbing, and an annual surfing trip.

Jeff Honig - Guiding Operations Manager

Jeff Honig is one or our Operations Managers. He lives in Revelstoke and has spent the last 12 years guiding with Selkirk Tangiers. An internationally certified mountain guide, he has been guiding for 13 years. During the spring, summer and fall, he runs Alpine Addictions, a guiding business taking people rock climbing and mountaineering across North America and Europe. His interests include rock, ice and alpine climbing, waterskiing, golfing, and house projects. Jeff and his wife Stephanie have a two year old daughter named Sienna and a new born named Lilla.

Pierre-Etienne Gagnon

Pierre-Etienne was born in London, England and grew up in the Laurentians, north of Montreal, Quebec. He has been guiding with Selkirk Tangiers for four seasons. Pierre-Etienne started skiing at three years of age, and ski raced for 17 years. Ski instructing in Chamonix led him to discover backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering.
After obtaining an Adventure Guide Diploma from Thompson Rivers University, Pierre-Etienne started working in the industry for other cat and heli operations in the winters, and raft guiding in the summer, which eventually led to year round ski guiding in British Columbia and Chile/Argentina in the summer time. Pierre-Etienne was hired four years ago as one of our new generation ski guides, which he says "has given me access to an amazing amount of expertise and knowledge within the entire operation". He and girlfriend Élodie have a two year old son named Gaël and a dog named Cimba. His other interests include white water canoeing, climbing, skiing, and spending time with the family.

Darek Glowacki

Darek Glowacki is happily married and has a fun four year old named Oskar, and a new baby girl, Olive. He is originally from Bielsko Biala, Poland; he has been calling Canada home for 30 years. He calls Revelstoke home and has been guiding with STHS for five seasons. Darek works and plays in the mountains year round. He enjoys ski mountaineering, mountain biking and rock climbing, as well as hiking, swimming, and paddling with his family.

Andre Normandeau

André Normandeau has been an ACMG Ski Guide Since 1993 and has been with STHS for 25 seasons. He has done most of his Guiding in Western Canada, and he is a Pioneer of the "Selkirk Lodge" backcountry ski area. When not in the Selkirks, he spends most of his time in Golden, British Columbia with Tammy where he has built his home. He likes playing with Lexus, his Border collie, and he also loves flat water kayaking, rowing, cycling, hiking, berry picking, and his new passion, disk golf.

Stephane Poirier

Stephane grew up in Quebec. After numerous seasons working for the avalanche control department at the Lake Louise Ski Area, Stephane became an ACMG ski guide to pursue his passion for skiing and guiding people. He has been guiding with Selkirk Tangiers for three seasons. Stephane’s passion for skiing and love of the mountains have led him to work in New Zealand and more recently, in Iceland where he explored new heli ski terrain. During the off-season, Stephane can be found enjoying photography, downhill mountain biking, and fly fishing in remote areas. Stephane works on the STHS Trail Crew during the summer.

Dave Scott

Dave Scott grew up in Alberta, but has lived in Revelstoke for 21 years, and he hasn't found a better place yet! He is an ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guide. This will be Dave’s fourth season with Selkirk Tangiers. Dave guided from 1993 to 2006 with CMH Revelstoke, CMH Galena, and Crescent Spur Heliskiing, and has been working from 1992 to present as a private ski touring guide. In the summer, Dave works as a mountain guide, mountaineering and rock climbing. He has a family of four – his wife Julie and daughters Rebecca, 15 and Mia, 12.

Dave Sproule

Dave Sproule is an ACMG Ski Guide and Apprentice Rock Guide; he is in his 5th year with Selkirk Tangiers. Dave grew up in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and started skiing when he learned to walk. He grew up skiing and boarding the local hills at Whistler and Mount Baker. After living in the Rockies for several years, he and his wife, Heather, settled in Revelstoke 10 years ago to raise their son, Kaya, and daughter, Jasmine.
For the past 10 years, Dave has worked as a guide ski touring, cat skiing, and heli skiing at various operations around British Columbia. Along with a season in Mount Cook, New Zealand. Between guiding and parenting, Dave loves ski mountaineering with friends to seldom visited peaks around Western North America. As a certified tree faller, he spends his summers working on the Selkirk Tangiers glading program, enhancing the already amazing terrain at STHS. Aside from skiing, Dave enjoys paragliding, mountain biking, rock & ice climbing, wood working, and just about any other outdoor activity.

Anne Keller

Anne Keller, a Washington native, has been climbing since 1985, and has been guiding since 1995. Her guiding experience includes over 50 ascents of Mt. Rainier, several expeditions to the Alaska Range, and numerous routes in the North Cascades, the Sierras, and the Tetons. She has established new routes in the North Cascades, led an expedition to the Pantheon Range, and she is proud to have completed the popular ski mountaineering objectives: the Forbidden Traverse, and the Spearhead Traverse — each in a day. For many years, Anne has worked as a professional ski patroller at Crystal Mountain; she now works as a heli-ski guide in Mazama, and as a backcountry ski guide in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. She is an Emergency Medical Technician, and also has a formal education in Physical Therapy. Anne became certified as an AMGA Ski Mountaineering Guide May of 2007 in Valdez, Alaska.
Glen Kaleka

Glen grew up in Alberta in the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains and started skiing at a young age. He has been a Ski Guide for 13 years in British Columbia and recently came to STHS in 2011. A full time resident of Tofino, on the west coast of Canada, Glen enjoys surfing when he is not in the mountains getting his powder fix.

Scott Grady

Scott is originally from Nelson, British Columbia but now calls Revelstoke his home along with his wife, Emily, who is also a ski guide. Scott has been guiding for over a decade with experience in heli-skiing, snow cat skiing, and backcountry ski touring throughout Canada and New Zealand. He also spends a good amount of time acting as a safety and avalanche consultant for ski and snowboard films. When not skiing, Scott enjoys mountain biking, fly fishing, rock climbing, and finding good coffee. Recently, his family had a new baby boy, Micah; Scott’s pretty stoked about that!
Quinn Castillo

Quinn Castillo grew up in the interior of British Columbia and spent his days skiing the local hills before realizing the magnitude and draw of B.C.'s back country. After a brief stint getting a physics degree, he has since been spending time skiing some of the world's mountains and finishing off his ski guide "degree". He is an assistant ski guide who has been working with Selkirk Tangiers for two seasons. This year he is moving to Revelstoke with his wife and their new son, Wyatt.

Simon Meis

Simon lives in Canmore, Alberta, and this is his second year working with Selkirk Tangiers. He is an ACMG Assistant Alpine and Assistant Ski Guide. Simon spends much of his winter escaping the poor snow in the Rockies, preferring the consistently excellent skiing of the Selkirks. In the off season, Simon splits his time between guiding, rock climbing, and geology work in the Alberta oil patch. His passion for rock climbing has taken him to South East Asia, Australia, Spain, Greece, Pakistan, and throughout North America. Simon also enjoys alpine climbing, mountain biking, and mixed media visual arts.
Alex Nadeau

Alex grew up in Montreal and moved to Western Canada in his early 20’s to pursue his passion of skiing. He has lived in Revelstoke for the last 10 years. Alex has worked for Cat Skiing operations, and has spent the last five seasons with Selkirk Tangiers. During the summer time, Alex fights forest fires and also works on the glading program at STHS. When not working, he likes mountain biking, surfing, and watching his favorite hockey team, the Habs!

Paul Gnos

Paul Gnos is from Erstfeld, a small town right in the middle of Switzerland. He likes spending time with his wife, Evelyn, and their son, Robin. Paul is a full IFMGA mountain guide, and he really enjoys being out in the mountains working for STHS. In the summer, Paul lives and works as a mountain guide in the Alps. He is looking forward to skiing the British Columbia powder once again this winter.
